(Part 2)

Then you had the music I listened too, hip hop. I still remember the first track I ever heard. It was Jay Z’s Reasonable Doubt album that defined us as a generation. Well at least that’s what I thought at the time. You had MCs putting down tracks that talked about life in general and the struggle that they faced coming up in the industry. You also had your “beefs” as they called it, between MCs classic battles the most famous some of us remember was Tupac and Biggie west coast vs. east coast here you had two rapper fighting over what coast was better banging, and at the age of 21 that’s where the music was at everyone was listening to who was dissing who what new MC was coming out and the beats he came out with. Music now you still have the beats, you still have MCs battling each other but lyrics are more about the money they got the woman they have. Now my listening preasurres have changed still stay true to Hip Hop but I listen to music that I can listen and have a good time with family and friends where I can enjoy a cold drink and enjoy life that’s where music is at this point of my life.

I thought hard about the next topic television showed I watched. Of course you had your hip hop show showing the new style that was out and where to get at. I remember every Friday you would go to a friends house turn the television to BET 106 and park and watch free style Fridays. Then you would sit around and talk about the lines he dropped and it made you realize this was hip hop. This was our culture and what big things our generation was bring. I still watch my Friday show but have started watching more news and the history channel not because im old or because there’s nothing on the television to watch but because I see now that I have to expand my mind and discover different things.
In conclusion many say the older the wine the better the taste. I say the older the wine the better the cork. see many of us have changed through life and its expected we fit into our life because it makes us happy decision I make are not affected by the culture around me its affected by the love ones around me and how my decision will affect them. I was once told you make the book the book doesn’t make you.
