Popular American Culture

(Part 2)

Also fast food places advertisements are subject to great media exposure do to television and coupons that come in the mail or newspaper. A person is subject to eat or purchase whatever they see that they like. Grocery stores also have ways for the media to spread their advertisements too. Kroger grocery store sells food and hands on living stuff versus Wal-Mart not only sells food but everything that a house holds needs. More people may shop at Wal-Mart because you can get everything at a lower price and it’s a one stop shop for everyone. Kroger is sort of like a store that you would go in if you did not want the long lines and if you were going in just to grab something and come out. Both store are considered grocery store, it’s just that one of them is better than the other from a societies point of view. The internet is another artifact that has taken over the world. We have so many sites that promote dating and shopping also gives you sites to learn a do anything that you basically want to do. The internet just really took a spin off when face book and MySpace was added. More of the younger population obligated their time so much to these sites that the older population is now on line. When things of this nature occur, that means the latest trends and fads have set into our culture. Everybody is into it and no one seems to want to change.

Values of Cultures

The population that is in America now has different morals and values about what they do and say now. The internet is the perfect example for moral and value situations. For instance, facebook gives you the right to comment and place what you feel on a day to day basis. People are able to look at your page a comment and also place things on your page that you may not want. It is also a convient site to go on at any time of the day or night. It is our social responsibility not to degrade ourselves or let the world know that we are less than what we say we are. As a society in popluar culture, we have to believe that we can be better people and show our children, who the next population is coming up; that we are adults with ambitions to keep morals and value a plus. Trends and fads have had major decisions in my life. I have written things on line and out of anger didn’t care who read it or responded, but do to me having an employer, things have to stay at a minimum. That is also important, no matter how culture changes, if employed, respect and privacy is given where it’s received and due. My culture that I know of has lead me to keep in constant contact with my morals and values and although the world may change and me with it, I know that there is a limit to what the popular changes and trends can do to me and for me.
