How to study in college

 

You have exams soon? Worried before the session? Did you manage to finish school in a slipshod manner, but in college, this will not work. Need advice? Then this article is for you!

 

Before the session

 

Make a schedule of examinations

 

They should follow the dates, and advance to find out the curriculum.
Appreciate the time until the final exam – every minute is precious. It is therefore necessary to plan the weeks (or days) before the upcoming exams. Make the right schedule, or you can just go mad. Don’t forget to make small breaks during classes and give priority attention to those subjects that seem more complex.

 

Curriculum – one of the most important documents for the moment. It can help you! Do not let it out of the hands during preparation, you can use it as a plan. It will help focus your attention on those topics that the teacher may find interesting and accurately included on the exam.

 

Highlight the desired word in the text

 

If you need to remember a few words – print them on your computer and print. Do not write the words that you already know. Make sure you know them exactly before a strike plate!

 

Review your notes and highlight important phrases and concepts (different colors!). Cut out the cards, they will also help to remember difficult words. Divide cards into categories -. For the terms and definitions for the formulas, as well as quotations from reading materials.

Find a comfortable place to study

Gather all your textbooks (and do not forget the sweets)

 

When leaving the dorm room or home, be sure to take with you everything you need. Take your notes, folders, stationery and books, but do not forget also about the least important things: a bottle of water, a bit of money (just in case), headphones and something to eat.

 

Strange, but for some reason, the chocolate began to be considered a magical tool. It has a lot of useful substances, even more than in the fruit juice. So do not be afraid to occasionally treat yourself before exams box of dark chocolate.

Begin to write

 

Do everything that you think can help you. There are so many ways to prepare for exams – try to apply some, and you will find one that is right for you.

Write notes. To learn history, you need to write a brief summary of each chapter and learn it.

Use mnemonic tricks. Why is the United States entered the First World War? Yes, all have long known that all this is due to SPRENCZ. You do not know what it means SPRENCZ? Well, Submarines, Propaganda, Russians, Economical ties with Europe, a violation of the Neutrality, Cultural ties with Britain and Zimmerman’s note – this is obvious. If you make a card, loudly repeat them aloud from memory. Silent reading will not give the expected results. Carry them with you and watch, when you find a free moment.

 

Arrange small breaks

 

Sitting over books for 5 hours does not help you. Your body (and even the brain) need a rest. Eat something and drink a glass of milk or water. Perform exercises for 20-30 minutes with 5 minute breaks. Then learning becomes much easier.

 

Dartmouth Academic Skills Center conducted a study according to which should take approximately 20-50 minutes and do 5-10 minute breaks. For better results we advise you to deal with so the whole week.

 

Listen to the music

 

Many have heard of the Mozart effect. When you listen to the works of the great composer, you miraculously become more intelligent. Of course, basically everything is – nonsense. Still, listening to music is very useful.

 

Initially, the study was conducted on adults, rather than children (so that you’re lucky!). After listening to the symphonies brain activity of subjects was increased and remained so for the next 15 minutes. When the experiment was expanded, then we concluded that any music that you like, stimulates brain activity. In fact, exercise can give the same result. In general, no matter what you choose, the main thing – to force the brain to work.

 

Do not get hung up on one thing, practice another subject

 

It will not only concentrate, but also to an increase in brain activity. No need to pore over a dictionary, if you are very tired. The best time to escape – read notes or excerpts from works.

Engage in the group

Sleep well before exams

Do not learn by rote the material. Many freshmen are engaged in it, but we do not advise you. If you are too overworked before the exams – a decrease of attention and concentration will wait you.

 

Have breakfas

 

This is useful not only for the body, but also to the brain. On an empty stomach it will be difficult to meet, but to overeat and not worth it.
Resist the temptation to get hooked on caffeine. It only makes you even more nervous. Eat on breakfast your regular menu.

 

Be confident

 

This will help you to calm down and may actually feel better. After all, if we speak frankly, you have already done everything you could. So do not be afraid to knock nervously fingers on the table.

 

If you want to remember something, but you are sure that you do not know it, then your memory unwittingly decide that you really do not teach. But if you trust your memory, it will not let you down. And it will becomes a habit.
